Burleigh House Care Home (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of residents, families, staff and website visitors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how it is kept safe, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect. When you contact us, by phone, email, or the enquiry form on this website, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, contact details, and information about the care you are enquiring about. If a resident moves in, we hold the further personal and health information necessary to provide safe, appropriate care.

How we use it. We use personal information only to respond to enquiries, arrange visits, and provide and manage care. We do not sell personal information, and we only share it with third parties (such as GPs, local authorities, or healthcare professionals) where necessary for a resident’s care, or where we are required to by law.

Website analytics. When you click a link on this website, we record the page and link involved and a very approximate location (such as the nearest city), worked out from your device’s IP address. Your exact IP address is never saved anywhere on our systems — it is anonymised before anything else happens, so the location shown is only ever a rough approximation, not a precise or exact location. This is not linked to your name or any other information you may have given us, and is kept for 12 months before being deleted automatically. We do this under our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful to visitors so we can improve the website.

Your rights. Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

If you remain concerned about how your information has been handled, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

This website uses a small number of cookies to make it work well and to understand how it is used.

Essential cookies. These are required for the website to function correctly, for example, remembering your text-size preference. The site cannot work properly without them, and they do not require consent.

Analytics cookies. Where used, these help us understand which pages are useful to visitors so we can improve the website. They do not identify you personally.

Step 1: Talk to us directly. Most concerns can be resolved quickly by speaking to a member of staff or the Home Manager. Call us on 01462 893216 or email enquiries@burleigh-house.com.

Step 2: Put it in writing. If your concern is not resolved, or you would prefer to raise it formally, please write to us. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to respond in full within 28 days, explaining what we found and what action we have taken.

Step 3: Take it further. If you remain unhappy with our response, you can contact the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England, at cqc.org.uk, or Hertfordshire County Council’s adult care services.

The safety and wellbeing of every resident is our first priority. Burleigh House follows the principles of the Care Act 2014 and works with the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Adults Board to prevent and respond to abuse or neglect in any form: physical, emotional, financial, or through neglect.

All staff receive safeguarding training as part of their induction and ongoing development, and know how to raise a concern, whether it relates to a resident, a colleague, or anyone else.

If you have a safeguarding concern about a resident at Burleigh House, please contact us directly, or Hertfordshire County Council’s Adult Care Services safeguarding team, who can be reached independently of the home if you would prefer.
